Check out our COMBO deal for $121 that includes the most excellent Norvel .061 and necessary equipment. See combo #5 Specs Length:21.75" Span: 26" Chord: tapered, root 7", tip 4.25" foil: Symetrical Weight: 11oz Wing Loading: 10.78 oz/sq ft Power: 1/2A Radio: Micro servo, mini receiver - 2ch, 3 with throttle This is the newest addition to the combat squadron. The P51 is probably our favorite plane so naturally it should be the first in a long line (hopefully - depends on the demand) of Pocket Planes. You can kind of get an idea of the size from the hand (which happens to belong to Jim) holding it up. This little plane is a total gas to fly! I think it is the most exciting thing I've flown yet and at 26 inches in span, it is definitely the smallest. It tips the scales at a hefty 11oz. Mini gear is a must. We use an FMA Tetra receiver and S-80 or 90 servos, plus a small battery pack. We have all this stuff available for these tiny planes. It is pink foam and comes with fuse, wings, coro-plast tail and fuse doublers, and hardware pack complete with a roll of colored tape. Maneuverability is awesome. This is not a plane for the beginner! However, it would be tough to ruin it so if you have masochistic tendencies --- go ahead and try it! Seriously, it is quick but the controls could be tamed down a bit. It will take a certain amount of dexterity to install the radio stuff but it does go together quickly - about four hours from kit to flight ('course, I've built a few before). So if you are looking for some excitement -- give it a try! Again, these are designed as head to head combat planes so be sure to get some buddies involved! Instructions: You will need to see the general instruction set for our Powered Combat Planes, as this is generic to all of our combat planes. We supply an addendum for each specific plane that contains instructions for each unique kit. Click here to go to the addendum instruction sheet for this plane. It contains pictures showing the building sequence.

As all of our planes, the Mustang is also foam and tape construction. This one is covered in our yellow tape with red and black monokote trim put on with trim solvent. The canopy is painted with gray Rustolium spray paint and defined with black automotive pinstripe. This Mustang is powered with a stock Cox .049 control line motor and uses our Slickmount(or the Slickmount II with a Tee Dee or Norvel) for the tank, (of course!). It flat hauls, but we will soon try it with a Norvel for even more excitement. If you use a Norvel, get the throttle version -- it's the only sane thing to do!
Even though it is small, the little Mustang can be made easy to fly. With dual rates or by manually setting it up with small control throws, it can be made to fly very smooth with "big" plane looks and handling. The more I fly it, the more hooked I am. Try one! This one we just built using some silver sticky-back paper found in an art supply store. This looks absolutely cool with the sun glinting off of the silver stuff. |
