BTW, the new Norvel .25 plain bearing or ball bearing engines are very successful in combat circles. I recently flew one and am impressed. We try to keep both these engines in stock along with tanks mounts and radio systems. We recently put in stock a specially setup Hitec radio system that includes micro 555 receiver and HS 81 servos and a 350 mah battery pack that is just perfect for combat planes due to the light weight. Check them out from the Gas engine tab and the Electronics tab for the radio system

To make a cowl, I recently found a clear storage container at K-Mart that fit it perfectly and because it is polycarbonate plastic, is very tough. The neat thing is that it can be painted on the inside just like a RC car body.
We have put probably 40 flights and a couple of combat meets on this plane now and I am excited that this one is on the market! This plane is soooo smooth. With an old K&B .20 on it, it will pull into a vertical climb from a slow crawl. It simply will not stall, I have never flown anything as stable as this one. Simply chop the throttle hold the nose up and watch it settle ever so softly.
The combat meets proved that this plane becomes a virtual battering ram to anything that wonders in it's way. Mid-air collisions are inevitable when the competition gets tough and the key is to be able to survive. This plane has flown through a couple fir trees, been crashed and had a mid air with a fellow combatant -  with hardly a mark on it. Of course there is the chance you will break a servo or prop,  or smash a motor but the overall strength of the plane is astounding. Plus, I would suggest the Corsair for a great "second" plane after graduation from a trainer because it will fly slow and smooth with no bad stall characteristics.
If you would like to see how to build the Corsair, go to the F4U Corsair instructions.
Thought you Might like to see a couple views of the the Corsair powered by a Saito 30 four stroke.

This plane was originally designed and built with a .25 2 stroke and this engine was adapted directly with no CG changes. Just had to rout a flex cable from the throttle servo to the throttle.

What a great sounding and flying plane!

Note: this is how the plane looks with the fuselage doublers used for the engine cowling. We need to put some checker board on the front and it will look much better.

This is a beautiful plane that brother Jim of JKA put together. It has a .40 size 2 stroke on it. Thought you might like to see it. It is so fast and flies beautifully. The only changes we would make on another one would be to shorten the nose a bit more to keep the CG more manageable. One customer shortened his about an inch with his .40 engine.
This is a parts layout of the kit. Each kit includes a roll of colored tape, control horns, and piano wire for pushrods. As you can see, they are very simple and easy to assemble. All the foam is CNC hot wire cut. The fuselage doublers and tails are die-cut. You can sand the fuselage to a scale shape or leave it blocky if you want. With a little sculpting, you will end up with a very nice looking plane - but then that isn't the goal. The goal is to have maximum fun at minimum cost with un believable durability.

your choice of spinner, 1-3/4" for the Mustang and 1-1/2 for most other kits - specify color in the comments box for online orders or we will send black. (most planes used a spinner with the exception of the Corsair but most guys use a spinner on the Corsair also to make it easier to start)
