P47

I flew the first P-47 for the first time at a contest yesterday (Detroit). The other pilots were very effusive in their comments about the good looking shiny "Jug". The vacuum formed cowl really finished it off nicely. I did the tail in yellow coroplast to replicate a P-47N of the 413th Fighter Squadron that was on Iwo Jima in 1945 The real surprise was in the flight performance. The other pilots said it was the FASTEST Thunderbolt they had ever seen. It turned incredibly tight. The big wing (46") made it a real floater on landing. I finished sixth and the only guys in positions 1-5 were fellows who have been doing this for years, one of whom won the National event this year. A few more cuts and I would have been right in there. It's my flying that must still improve somewhat. I have a plane now that is the equal of any of the others and better than most. Thanks again for good products and good service.

Ed Ketler sent us this stunning photo of his P47 and writes:

Just a brief note to say that I've completed my P-47, and will be flying it this weekend. The parts went together very crisply, and the web site was a big help in getting the plane built correctly. As a first time 2610 builder, it took about 10 hours to build, but I could easily trim that down to 8 or less now that I've got one under my belt. Some of that time was spent getting the engine mounted correctly due to the 90 degree rotation I chose, something I probably won't do again.

Expect some follow on orders once I get some experience flying my new toy!

Ed, what a super job on the silver tape! Foamies can be very cool.

John Morgan sent this picture of his beautifully done Jug. Note that it is flying as a light weight park flyer with geared speed 400

superb job John!

and you all thought foamies had to be ugly.

Thought I'd follow up with you on your P-51. Built this as I did the P-47D. Hollowed, lightened, silkspan and polycrylic finish ( Jug was fiberglass and poly). Came out heavier than I wanted and was a little worried but it flew fantastic!

Hand launch was no problem, got on step right away. Surprised me, as good a flyer as your Corsair.

Very nice plane

Looking forward to more of your kits. Would really like to see the Skyraider and you should really think about a Bf-109.

Thanks,

John Morgan

Subject:                 Just want to say you have an awesome product!

I just want to drop you guys a note to say how much I love your kits.   I finally test flew my FW and the Jug this past Sunday (at our Winter Fun Fly) and all I can say is WOW!  I actually crashed the FW several times due to engine failure on launches, and the last one the plane corkscrewed in from about 100' and hit the frozen ground HARD!!!  This was due to a snapped left aileron control horn from the last bad launch, I was "flying" with only one operational aileron and didn't know it.  Guess what happened to the plane as a result?  Absolutely nothing', couldn't even tell it crashed once, let alone 3 times that day.  These things Rock!  After I got my engine running correctly and the control horn swapped out it flew like a rocket powered force ready for battle!  Really cool.  I wouldn't be surprised if you get more people from Maine buying your kits, many people from my club asked for your www address after seeing the "damage" my plane suffered. Also, the Jug is a scale combat beginners dream, talk about an easy plane to fly!  Keep these kits coming, looking forward to the TA-152!

Subject:                 My electric conversion of your new P47 kit....

Here's a link to my EZONE thread showcasing my latest project. It's an electric conversion of your new P47 kit. If you're interested, I could send you some pictures direct in whatever format you like. Thanks for another great R/C value!

Jim sent this picture of this beautiful electric P47. You can look up the thread on the E-zone and get the details on how he did the conversion. Nice job Jim!

just want ya'll to know how well your P-47 does for 2548 combat. I built mine as an N model, streteched to 46 inches span, built right up to the 3.25 minimum weight limit, and she flies real nice..here's a pic.

It was finished in Ultrakote aluminum and OD, decals came from Sig, the lower half cowl was molded from a pop bottle. Tids plane took a hard midair that cut the leading edge back to the spar at the Lone Star Nats, an hour in the shop, and shes ready..good bird!!

Also, are any of your semi-scale SSC birds ready to ship yet? I'm interested in them, especially the P-40 or Helldiver..

Thank You Cash for the great photo.   Glad to see you are liking the P-47.   Also, you can see the article that Greg Rose (garose02@earthlink.net) did on Cash and his fellow members in the May 2006 issue of AMA Magazine (page 122)
