check out the COMBO kit Note: kits now include spars and ready cut spar slots in the wings Every one has their favorite and I would guess that the Mig 3 is probably right up there in my top 3 with the Corsair and Mustang. The lines are inherently graceful and smooth, almost racer-like with a bit of nastiness under the surface just itching to make chop liver out of anything that wonders in his path. What better way can you think of to exploit the speed and power of the Russian Norvel .25 than the Mighty Mig 3. Not for the timid, we estimate a solid 80mph plane (this just in: Jim Finch of Redding RC Hobbies clocked our P51 at 91mph with a radar gun flying the Norvel .25). At 2.2lbs, vertical performance is extreme. Chop the throttle, though, and she floats like a feather. No nasty habits, slow or fast - just point and click for surgically precise flying. Interesting thing about this plane is that, according to Bob Banka, there are no real life examples of this plane in existence. A few technical drawings and pictures are about all we have. This prototype is painted up in winter colors - to blend into the Eastern Front, I presume - but I could never figure out why they would put a red stripe and stars on a white plane that was supposed to blend into the snowy background. I do like the combination though and it is very different than the typical drab colors a lot of the war birds are painted.
The kit comes with control horns, push rod wires and 1 roll of colored tape. We have a COMBO special that includes the engine and related parts to make it go.
This copy is finished in our white tape then sprayed with Krylon semi gloss white. The graphics are cut form sign vinyl and stuck to the plane. After a combat, some nasty crashes, and many flights - the graphics are mostly still on and looking good. So if you know a sign shop that uses sign vinyl for graphics, visit then and see if they have scraps laying around. It comes in lots of colors and the little pieces work great for trim.
This guy looks fast from any angle. I think it's just begging for electric power - what do you think? Check out our building instructions
