Mitsubishi A6M Zero

We have had a
lot of requests for the Zero so here it is folks. We have supplied a 40 inch
wing for the A6M2 version of the Zero. A number of variations of this plane were
made and the wing span was changed several times. If you want, you could clip
the wing to the A6M5 version which would give you a span of 36 inches. The
longer wing gives this plane a similar feel to our Corsair. As all of our
foamies, this one is very durable and is one of the easier to build. There are
no special tricks to sanding and assembling the fuse and wing. There is ample
room for the radio gear and the nose is big enough to handle .25 or larger
engines. This example uses the fuselage doublers to form a simple fake cowl but
the top portion of a 2 liter Coke bottle is the perfect size for a scale looking
round cowl. The plane is taped with our dark green on top and red on the bottom
then sanded and sprayed with Krylon green and red. The canopy is covered in tape
then sprayed with silver Krylon. Hope you like it!

This example is taped up in white tape with
several shades of Krylon spray paint cammo. The under belly and wing are left
white and the red circles are computer generated on label paper. They will get
clear tape over them prior to flying. The cowl is made from a 2 liter pop bottle
painted black on the inside.

| This is a parts layout of the kit. Each kit
includes a roll of colored tape, control horns, and piano wire for pushrods. As
you can see, they are very simple and easy to assemble. All the foam is CNC hot
wire cut. The fuselage doublers and tails are die-cut. You can sand the fuselage
to a scale shape or leave it blocky if you want. With a little sculpting, you
will end up with a very nice looking plane - but then that isn't the goal. The
goal is to have maximum fun at minimum cost with un believable
durability. |
